  • For prizes of $1 – $599, InstaPlay and instant-scratch games may be redeemed at any lottery retailer location in the state if sufficient funds are available. Pull-tab prizes of up to $600, however, must be redeemed at the same location where the ticket was purchased.
  • For prizes over $600, a completed copy of our Winner Claim Form plus either Federal Form W-9 (for U.S. citizens) or Federal Form W-8BEN (for non-U.S. citizens) are required along with a legible, valid copy of the winner's government-issued photo identification. (Acceptable examples include: driver's license, state I.D. card, military I.D. card, port, or permanent resident card.) If you are NOT a U.S. citizen, but are a Permanent Resident, you must provide us with your current Permanent Resident card and/or Social Security card or additional taxes may be withheld.

Will I Pay Taxes on My Winnings?

What Should I Do If I Win?

If you view the results of the Iowa Lottery and see that you’re one of the winners, you’ll need to determine how much you’ve won.

 

Prizes under $600 can be claimed at any authorized retailer (provided it has sufficient funds). Pull-tabs of $600 and under must be redeemed at the same retailer where the ticket was purchased.

 

For any prizes over $600, you’ll need to go to the local Iowa Lottery Office. Alternatively, you can redeem your prize via mail.

 

All Iowa Lottery winners need to complete the ticket's back with their full name, address, and signature. Players must also fill out a winner’s claim form and the federal W-9 form. Valid proof of ID is also required.
